APPLICATION FOR EARLY LEARNING & CHILDCARE PLACES - SCHOOL SESSION 2018-2019
Eligible children are entitled to 600 hours of Early Learning and Childcare (ELC), equivalent to 16 hours per week across the 38 week school session, with recognition that families have a variety of needs and preferences for accessing ELC. Further information will be available at registration and is also in the Council's Policy and Guidelines for Admission to Nursery Schools & Classes 2018-19.
Please note that application for ELC places in nursery schools and classes managed by Education & Children's Services will commence week beginning 22 January 2018 for all places in school session 2018-2019. Please note that initial registration will close on 14 February 2018. Applications received after this date will still be considered but will not be included in the initial allocation of places.
Parents wishing to apply for an ELC place should contact their local nursery school or primary school which has a nursery class.
Children are entitled to an ELC place in the term after their third birthday. Below are details of the groups of children eligible to apply for a place in nursery schools and classes managed by Education & Children's Services in school session 2018-2019.

*It should be noted that children who become 3 years old between 1 September and 31 October may access a local authority nursery place week commencing 22 October 2018, provided staffing resources are available.
In addition to the above, children who will be 5 years of age between the start of the school session in August and the last day of February 2019 whose parents who may be considering deferring entry to primary school are eligible to register for a place at nursery schools and classes managed by Education & Children's Services. Parents are advised to refer to the guidance within the 'Should My Child Start Primary School This Year' leaflet which is available on the Council's website www.pkc.gov.uk/preschool. A number of local authority nurseries also offer ELC places to children who are 2 years of age. These Strong Start places will be offered to eligible children in line with criteria set down by the Scottish Government. All places within nursery schools and classes managed by Perth & Kinross Council are allocated in accordance with the priority categories as outlined in the Council's Policy and Guidelines for Admission to Nursery Schools & Classes 2018-2019. A copy is available to view or download on the Council's website www.pkc.gov.uk/preschool
When applying for an ELC place for your child you will need to take your child's birth certificate and a copy of Council Tax documentation. This is proof of the parent's residency at the time of application. This information is used in determining priorities for allocation of places.
